Niem
Der Teppich Niem ist als Porträt einer Person im textilen Medium zu definieren, wobei es sich nicht um das konkrete Abbild der Person handelt, sondern um die Visualisierung ihrer Erinnerungen und Wünsche - Ziel ist immer der individuelle, für eine bestimmte Person gefertigte Teppich.
Es gibt Umstände, die unser Leben prägen. Bestimmte Startbedingungen machen es leichter in unserem Umfeld erfolgreich zu sein. Und doch gibt es immer wieder Personen, die es schaffen aus Eigenantrieb ihre Träume zu verwirklichen und sich gegen jeden Widerstand durchsetzen. Andere wiederum folgen dem Beispiel ihrer Vorfahren so exakt, dass man sich fragt, wie und wann Zukunftsträume überhaupt entstehen. All diese Geschichten sollen in Niem verschlüsselt und verwebt werden. Niem zeigt die Herkunft und die erhoffte Zukunft einer Person. Die Zukunft erscheint dabei in Form von Symbolen im Teppich. Die Herkunft wird in der Webart des Teppichs gespiegelt. Der individuelle Teppich kann einer Person so als Motivation, als Wegweiser und als Abbild seiner Träume dienen. Betrachtet man viele Teppiche zusammen, entsteht vor unseren Augen ein Abbild der Gesellschaft, das unsere Träume, Lebensvorstellungen und antreibenden Kräfte aufzeigt.

Niem
Niem is to be defined as a portrait of a person, encoded in a textile medium. Not showing a concrete image, it rather visualises the persons memories and desires. The result is always an individual carpet, made for one specific person.
There are various circumstances that shape our lives. Certain starting conditions make it easier or more difficult to be successful in our environment. On one hand given circumstances can often cause difficulties when trying to overcome ones preset boundaries. Some people follow the example of their ancestors so precisely that one could start wondering how and when visions of future are able to develop. Others, despite their starting point, manage to break out and realize their dreams against all resistance. On the other hand some people have problems with their life, even though it seems all possibilities were given to them due to their origin.
All these stories shall be encrypted and interwoven into Niem. Inspired by the appearance of and the stories behind Persian rugs, an individual carpet for each person should emerge. Based on different variables, Niem shows the origin and the expected future of a person. The origin of the person is coded in the manufacturing process of the carpet. The future appears in shape of symbols woven into the carpet. Every individual carpet serves as a motivation for each person, as a guide and as a reflection of ones dreams. Looking at a series of Niem carpets, an idea of a society is recognizable, which presents our dreams, goals and motivation.
